Urban Block Media’s Content Manager, Roman Storoshchuk, recently met with Emma Kilburn-Smith from the CBC Eyeopener program in Calgary to discuss the Wing Night Deals website and chat about wing night deals in the city.

Sometimes a side project leads to some pretty interesting conversations. 🍗

Our team created Wing Night Deals for a very simple reason: we love wings, and we love them even more when they’re on special.

What started as a way to make finding local wing night deals easier recently led to an interview with CBC Calgary’s Eyeopener about how the price of wing nights has changed over the years.

And there couldn’t have been a more appropriate place for the conversation — the interview took place at Mug Shotz, one of Calgary’s popular wing night spots.

It was a fun opportunity to talk about the changing economics of a Canadian pub favourite and share a little about the project we’ve been building behind the scenes.

Wednesday night. You want wings. Now comes the hard part: where’s the deal? 🍗

That’s exactly the problem we wanted to solve when the Urban Block Media team created Wing Night Deals.

Instead of searching through restaurant websites and social feeds, Wing Night Deals brings useful information together in one place so you can find and compare specials based on:

→ City

→ Day of the week

→ Area of the city

→ Deal price

→ Number of flavours

The resource is expanding across Canada, with deals in Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Halifax, and Toronto coming next.

But we also want the community to help us make it better.

Know a great wing night we’ve missed? See a price or deal that needs updating? Submit it through the website. Community submissions help us grow the database and keep the information as useful and accurate as possible.

And if you’re curious about why wing nights aren’t quite as cheap as they used to be, check out our recent conversation with CBC Calgary’s Eyeopener:

Now the important question: blue cheese or ranch?
